learn, apply, deep dive

In the Yoga Medicine 20-hour Spine: Anatomy, Dysfunction, and Application Immersion, you will be guided through a deeper look into the anatomy and biomechanics of the spine as a basis to give you the tools to evaluate spine function and application in a yoga setting.

This yoga teacher training begins with a deeper look at the anatomy and biomechanics of the spine as a basis for learning to support both groups and individuals. The training provides an overview of common injuries and areas of dysfunction, and guides you through therapeutic applications for the thoracic and lumbar spine.

You will leave with a sound understanding of the spine’s anatomy and how you can apply this knowledge to provide your yoga students with a more impactful, well-rounded approach to spine integrity within a therapeutic yoga setting.

What we’ll explore

  • Spinal anatomy, structure and function — understand the spine’s key structures, biomechanics and supporting musculature.

  • Common injuries and injury prevention — explore common spinal issues and considerations for safe, effective practice.

  • Posture and movement assessment — develop a more nuanced understanding of postural variations and spinal function.

  • Thoracic and lumbar spine — investigate mobility, stability and practical applications for these regions.

  • Working with pain and dysfunction — consider how pain, individual history and movement needs inform your approach.

  • Therapeutic yoga application — develop strategies for adapting practices to support both groups and individuals.

Who is this training for?

This 20-hour Yoga Medicine immersion is designed for yoga teachers and other movement or healthcare professionals with yoga experience who work with students in yoga, movement or therapeutic settings. It is ideal for those wanting to deepen their understanding of spinal health and bring greater anatomical insight into their work.

Come away with more than knowledge of the spine — develop the tools to translate that knowledge into thoughtful, practical and individualised teaching.
